Theodore
A Look for Every Woman
by Anna Serghides
Walking into the Theodore women’s boutiques located in Calabasas and Malibu, one feels as if they were entering the closet of a successful celebrity stylist. The white tile floors, white walls and simple metallic closet racks set the tone for a modern and unique shopping experience. It was apparent that the founder of Theodore intended to tell a story with the design pieces carefully chosen for his stores. This story is of a woman, who while she dresses in corporate business attire during the day, doesn’t allow that to define her fashion sense. She might wear an animal print Roberto Cavalli cocktail dress in the evening to a musical in Los Angeles. She runs errands on the weekend wearing pastel-colored, soft and understated cotton fabrics that flatter her skin tone. She pulls some of the more glamorous urban pieces (snug, white-washed jeans and a unique Japanese blouse with black designer leather, chunky, high heels) when she meets with her agent to discuss modeling gigs. In other words, Theodore carries something for every woman.
In the store I noticed everything from casual California looks with light, airy fabrics, suitable for the casual but stylish Angeleno to name brands for the glamorous celebrity running from paparazzias well as designer cotton jackets and matching pants for the stylish suburban housewife. There were quality blazers for the corporate businesswoman, cocktail dresses, white lightweight fabrics for hot summer days and some lightweight sweaters for those chilly mornings and evenings spent with a cup of hot tea and a good book. Aside from selling clothes, Theodore also carries belts, handbags, shoes and jewelry.
The Theodore woman is versatile and has many looks to match her busy schedule.
