UPTOWN DINING

Top Uptown

Restaurant Lounges & Bars

by Clair Adrian Tenney

C-Suite Quarterly launched a search for the perfect place to eat, drink and unwind locally. We found five Uptown settings for your summer enjoyment. Savor five star dining or meet for drinks at any of these establishments and we promise you will not be disappointed.

P6

Westlake Village

After a long day at work, there is no better way to unwind than to enjoy a good meal in dim lighting out of the bright lights of the office, with a soothing drink and someone to wait on you. All of these things are possible at P6 and you can even sit back at the bar and watch the game. Located in Westlake Village, this restaurant and bar is everything you will need. Munch on starters such as baked brie, prosciutto wrapped asparagus or ahi tuna tartare as you lounge in a plush booth and are served on a gorgeous rich wood table. Continue the pleasure by following with a grilled 8 oz. filet, Alaskan halibut or tagliolini. The outside fire pit is ideal for sipping cocktails like spiced apple, American beauty and a sake martini. And don’t forget the variety of wine and scotch the restaurant serves- choose one to compliment an entrée, a dessert or for a relaxed state of mind. Perfect for any night of the week, P6 offers romance, dancing, fun, great service and no worries.

Moonshadows

Malibu

A discerning diner dreams of a restaurant in the most fantastic of locations, where the service is impeccable, getting cozy is an easy task and the atmosphere radiates coolness and modernity. Overlooking the beautiful Pacific Ocean is a restaurant that has made all of those dreams a reality. Moonshadows brings fine cuisine, sophistication and excellent service together to form one of the hottest restaurants and the well-known Blue Lounge in LA Uptown.

Italian born restaurateur Andrea Bullo adds a Euro-vibe to the already exciting, hip ambience. An outside lounge with comfortable beds and plush chairs overlook the waves and a DJ spins music just loud enough that you can still hear the roar of the Pacific….and your date.

With a menu that fits perfectly with the location, Moonshadows offers cuisine ranging from a roasted organic red and yellow beet salad with Napa Valley goat cheese to iced oysters on the half shell, and to my personal favorites: panko fried oysters and hamachi sashimi. The dessert menu makes mouths water with such treats as valrhona chocolate and gianduja soufflé cake (a must have) and carmelized banana-almond crostata. A creative wine list and a full bar rounds out the perfection.
Whether you are going out with clients, having a singles night with friends or a romantic date with the other half, Moonshadows is the go-to beachside getaway.

Mi Piace

Calabasas

Good New York Italian cuisine is hard to find unless you are in, well, New York or Italy. But thanks to Mi Piace, Calabasas now holds fresh New York Italian cuisine in the Calabasas Commons. And with a sleek, sophisticated and urban interior it even feels like you are in New York City. A classy restaurant lounge transports one back to California as you can step out onto the casually elegant patio overlooking the gardens of the Commons. Weekend evenings at Mi Piace are meant for enjoying the serenade of a band while sipping wine and taking pleasure in a wide variety of appetizers, salads, pastas, meat and seafood entrees. Start with fritti misti or the arancini and delight in the best, smoked chicken-artichoke ravioli I have tasted. The Chilean seabass with roasted shiitake mushrooms and pollo al sesamo will meet anyone’s fancy. And give yourself an extra treat by indulging in the double-crusted apple tart or the chocolate soufflé. Now that the weather is heating up, Mi Piace is taking steps to make the restaurant an enjoyable lounge to relax in an Italian atmosphere in the warmth of California’s contemporary Uptown environment. When it is time to finally relax and enjoy yourself, Mi Piace gets it just right.

Mi Piace The Commons at Calabasas, 4799 Commons Way, Calabasas, CA 91302, 818.591.8822
Hours of Operation: Sun-Thurs 11am - 11:30pm, Fri and Sat 11am- 12:30am

Candlelight Kitchen and Bar

Simi Valley

A triple threat can refer to anything from sports, to businesses, to artists and actors- but when speaking of a triple threat in the restaurant and lounge scene, Candlelight in Simi Valley is all the buzz. Elegant dining, sexy martinis and a beautiful view make Candlelight a triple score. Hundreds of candles in every shape and size surround you as you lounge on a couch or bed on a deck that has panoramic views of the city amongst rolling hills with a waterfall as its border. With such drink names as "decadence", glamour”, “desire” and “impress” and a menu that features everything from delicious filet mignon medallions, simply seared ahi and fondue- it’s hard to go wrong. Whether you are looking for a special night for two, complete with dancing and quiet romance or a fun night out with friends, Candlelight has finally brought a new and stylish concept to the Uptown crowd.
