The word philanthropy, derived from philo (love), and anthro (mankind), aptly describes the attitudes that hold these dozen local organizations together; they ceaselessly shoulder the social burdens of our community with passion and love for their fellow man. Each element of these organizations proves it. Their CEOs have found their callings in helping others. Their mission statements are doctrines of integrity. Their institutions inspire all those whom they touch. Their actions uplift the underprivileged, the downtrodden, and the disenfranchised. From medical research and care to adolescent development, addiction recovery to community bolstering, these organizations alleviate their chosen pockets of suffering and turn philanthropy into a lifestyle.
