Support for the Kids 5th Annual

A Taste of the Town

Support for the Kids is dedicated to providing educational enrichment and comprehensive services to underprivileged and foster children and their families in our community.
Over 225 recognizable faces and 11 local restaurants gathered at the pristine Ventura Farms in Thousand Oaks to embrace the efforts of Lynda Miller and Support for the Kids to raise money for their extraordinary cause. Mediteranneo, Suki 7 and Tuscany were just a few of the restaurants serving delicious food while the likes of Leo Bunnin, John Scardino, Bob Byers, Neil Krupnick and the entire Finefrock family enjoyed this day of philanthropy and fun.

“Our children might only be 25% of our population but they are 100% of our future.”

Attendees were able to take in all of David H. Murdock’s (CEO, Dole Foods) gorgeous estate: numerous spectacular gardens, rocks from the Japanese River Kwai, and a beautiful lake centered with a Chinese Pagoda. The real show came a few hours into the affair as Mr. Murdock arranged for a special Arabian horse show which captivated the young and old for over half an hour while food and drinks were still being served. There was a silent auction littered with incredible donated items and the day was capped off with a live auction at the end. It was quite an affair, and the event raised over $165,000 for the non-profit; all of which will be used directly for the children as the Support for the Kids organization is entirely voluteer-based and 100% underwritten by its donors, board members and volunteers.
