Anything But Business as Usual

The Westlake Village Inn

by Christy Rosen

The Approach

Westlake Village began as just that - a village. It has now grown into a vibrant and dynamic hub nestled between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara. The Westlake Village Inn is dedicated to maintaining a small, personal feel that you might find tucked away in a quaint town but with the surrounding attributes that any business or family traveler would need to enjoy a trip. Soon to celebrate its 40th birthday, the Westlake Village Inn prides itself on being a boutique inn that pays special attention to details, while still providing state-of-the-art amenities. As the only hotel in California that is a member of the exclusive Summit Hotels & Resorts group, Westlake Inn has a touch of class within every room as well as an emphasis on customer service.

As you enter the lobby you are transported into an Italian living room. The décor is impeccable but not over done. The staff is welcoming and friendly, and immediately offers you a beverage while you arrange for your stay. Innkeeper and general manager Amy Commans ensures that “everyone at the Inn is treated as a house guest and not just another person.” The Westlake Village Inn is a place to escape but also prides itself on the fact that nearly any business request
can be accommodated.

The Villa

Huge windows offer a stunning view of lush botanical gardens as you enter the Villa: a two story, 1,500 square foot presidential suite. The lower level is perfect for entertaining, holding an executive meeting or just relaxing with ultra-modern kitchen facilities, full service wet bar, HD plasma TV and a baby grand piano. The vaulted ceilings seem to call you to the upper level. Once there, you feel like diving into the Italian Matteo bedding that covers a king size bed. Another plasma TV waits in the bathroom so you never miss a minute of the game or the stock market. The Villa is designed for those who require luxury and functionality. This suite has hosted government dignitaries, entertainment superstars and sports icons. The starting price is $1,200.

Beauty and Peace

Any direction you look will be a feast for your eyes at the Westlake Village Inn. No two rooms have the same view, and the design of every room allows for the natural beauty to complement your room. The botanical gardens, rose arbors, gazebo, waterfall and private lake combine to create a tranquil oasis. To further enhance your experience, the Inn provides complementary tennis, a fitness facility and a relaxing circular pool. Upon request, spa services can be brought to the comfort of your room. The Inn can also arrange for a tee time at a number of superb golf courses nearby. If your travels bring you to the Inn over the weekend, it teams with YogaWorks to provide yoga classes Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Bon Appetite

Mediterrano has been heralded as one of the area’s finest restaurants. Executive Chef Alberto Vazquez (profiled on p.67) has created a European bistro menu that focuses on fresh seasonal ingredients. The food is coupled with an award winning wine list to produce a meal that is both satisfying and memorable.

If you and your colleagues are looking for a cool place to hang out after a long day’s work, Bogie’s is an ideal choice. Inside this vibrant bar you can sit back in red leather chairs and watch a large plasma TV, usually tuned to ESPN, or you can step outside and relax by the fireplace. There are also cabanas available for larger groups, which present a fun, stylish alternative to your typical business outing.

Not just business as usual

Every executive is looking for the best value, and that is exactly what the Westlake Village Inn provides when it comes to business space. There are seven meeting spaces available on the property. The grandest is the Provence Room which can hold up to 225 guests. This is not your typical ballroom. One wall consists entirely of windows, offering stunning lakeside views. This two-tiered space is unique and opulent. Separately, The Wine Cellar provides a more intimate environment with exposed brick and rustic wine barrels. For smaller executive meetings you can choose between the Villa and the Executive Boardroom. Wireless access is available throughout the property and the attentive staff can arrange all the details to ensure your meeting is a success.

The Westlake Village Inn prides itself on providing premier value in accomodations. You are treated as a VIP from the moment you step in the door. At the Westlake Village Inn you escape from the ordinary and experience the extraordinary.
